Privacy policy

The short version

CutDoc does not upload the documents you open. There is no CutDoc account. The Android app does not request internet permission and contains no advertising or analytics SDK. CutDoc uses no LLM and no cloud AI. You delete the copies the app keeps on the device; the steps are on the data deletion page.

We process a small amount of personal data only in two places: the website, which is delivered by a hosting provider, and email you choose to send us. Both are described below.

This policy covers the CutDoc mobile application and the website cutdoc.tech.

Who is responsible

The controller for the personal data described in this policy is the Armenian legal entity named below, the publisher of CutDoc.

You process the personal data inside a document yourself, on your device: you decide to open the file and review it. CutDoc does not receive that document and does not process its contents on a server.

Documents you open

You can open PDF, JPG, JPEG, PNG and DOCX files, including a photograph or scan of a page. The app looks for personal data such as people, organizations, dates, places, amounts, identifiers and contacts.

You replace, keep or type your own replacement for each finding. Export stays locked while a finding still needs a decision. Kept text stays in the result. Replaced text is replaced by the substitute you choose: a marker made of the data type and a number, a mask, a synthetic value or your own text.

The export is a new PDF, DOCX, TXT or Markdown file, or a ZIP of those files. It is not the original file with a hidden copy attached, and it does not overwrite the file you selected.

How text is recognized

Text on a scan or photo is recognized inside the app with compact models that ship with the application. Personal data is found with rules and built-in dictionaries on the device. CutDoc uses no large language model (LLM), no chatbot and no cloud AI service. The page is not sent to CutDoc or to the makers of those models.

What the app stores on the device

So that you can review, recover and export, the app keeps local working data:

• copies of the files you add;
• findings, your decisions and your replacements;
• saved exported results;
• enough state to resume an interrupted job;
• settings, such as language, theme, the default export format and the identifier countries you select.

That data stays in the app’s storage on the device. Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are turned off for the app.

What CutDoc does not receive

CutDoc does not receive your documents, the text recognized from them, your review decisions or the exported file. There is no account system. The Android version does not declare the INTERNET permission and contains no advertising or analytics SDK, so the app sends no usage profile, advertising identifier or crash log to CutDoc.

Google Play and the App Store may give the publisher install statistics and crash or performance reports that Google or Apple collect from users who allow it in their device or store settings. These reports come from the store, not from the app. They contain technical data such as the device model, the system version and the point in the code where the app failed, not the files you open.

Do not send a document to the support email. A document attached to an email leaves your device because you sent the email, not because the app uploaded it.

Permissions

On Android, you choose each file in the system picker. The app does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone or entire photo library, and it does not request a network permission.

An iOS version is not yet available. Before it is offered, this policy and the App Store privacy details will be checked against the iOS app and updated if anything differs.

Export and sharing

When you save or share an export, the destination is the one you choose in the system dialog. CutDoc does not choose that app, folder or person. You are responsible for where the new file goes.

This website

cutdoc.tech is a static site. The site itself sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no fonts, scripts or images from other sites. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie (such as __cf_bm) when it checks that a visitor is not a bot.

The site is delivered by Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) through its Cloudflare Pages service. When you open a page, Cloudflare receives the technical data every browser sends: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page and your browser’s user-agent string. Cloudflare uses this data to deliver the page and to protect the site from attacks, as our service provider (processor). We keep no server logs of our own. Cloudflare keeps its logs under its own retention rules and its data processing addendum.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure and available website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)); under the Law of the Republic of Armenia on Protection of Personal Data, processing that is necessary to provide the page you request. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and its data processing addendum includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

If you follow a link to Google Play or the App Store, that store’s own policy applies from there.

Email you send us

If you write to info@cutdoc.tech, we receive your email address, your message, its date and anything you attach. We use it only to answer you, to handle a request about your rights and to fix a product problem you report. We do not use it for advertising and we do not sell it.

Legal basis: your request and our reply to it. Under the Law of the Republic of Armenia on Protection of Personal Data, your consent, which you give by writing to us. Where the GDPR applies, taking the steps you ask for (Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in fixing product problems and keeping a record of our answer (Art. 6(1)(f)). You can withdraw consent at any time by asking us to delete the correspondence. This does not affect what was lawfully done before.

We keep support correspondence for 12 months after the last message and then delete it, unless a law requires us to keep it longer or we need it to establish or defend a legal claim. You can ask us to delete it sooner.

Write without the document and without the personal data you were trying to remove.

Service providers and transfers

Document contents are handled on your device. They are not transferred to CutDoc in Armenia or anywhere else.

The support mailbox is provided by TimeWeb LLC (Timeweb, Saint Petersburg), which stores mail on servers in Russia as our service provider (processor). The European Commission has not adopted an adequacy decision for that country, and its law may allow public authorities to access stored mail with safeguards below the EU standard. If you write to us by email from the EU or EEA, your message is stored there only because you chose to write to us and it is needed to answer you (GDPR Art. 49(1)(b)). If you do not want that, write to us by post at the legal address in “Who is responsible”; this works for every request, including requests about your rights.

The website is delivered by Cloudflare, Inc. (see “This website”). We disclose support mail to no one else, unless a law obliges us to disclose it to a public authority.

Children

CutDoc is intended for users aged 16 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If a child has sent us a message, tell us and we will delete it.

How long data remains

Document data remains on the device until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. Files you already saved to a folder, or shared, are outside the app: deleting data inside CutDoc does not delete those copies. There is no CutDoc server copy of the document to erase.

Support mail: 12 months after the last message. A deletion request is carried out without delay, at the latest within 30 days. The controls in the app are listed on the data deletion page.

Security

The Android app is built without a network permission, with backup turned off, and with processing on the device. Those are product boundaries, not a certificate from an auditor. No method of storage is perfect. Protect the phone, and do not send an export to a place you do not trust.

Your rights

Under the Law of the Republic of Armenia on Protection of Personal Data you may learn whether we process personal data about you and receive it; ask us to correct, block or destroy data that is incomplete, inaccurate, outdated or unlawfully obtained; withdraw your consent; and appeal against our actions to the authorized body or to a court.

Where the GDPR applies you also have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection (Articles 15–21), the right to withdraw consent at any time, and the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of the EU or EEA country where you live or work, or where the alleged infringement took place.

We answer without undue delay and within the time limit set by the law that applies to you; under the GDPR, within one month. You may object at any time to processing based on our legitimate interest; we will then stop unless we have compelling legitimate grounds. We make no automated decisions about you. We may need to confirm that a request comes from you. We will never ask you to send a document to do that.

For a document that never leaves the phone, you exercise control on the phone: decide each finding, delete the app’s copies, or uninstall. For support mail, write to info@cutdoc.tech.

The authorized body in Armenia is the Personal Data Protection Agency of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia. Nothing in this policy limits a right that the law makes mandatory.

Where CutDoc is offered

CutDoc is not specifically directed at users in the Russian Federation. The Russian version is provided for Russian-speaking users in Armenia and other countries.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published at this address with a new date. If a future version of the app starts sending data off the device, adds an account or adds analytics, this policy will say so before that version is offered, and the store listings will match it.
